{400} ADVANCED PLACEMENT BIOLOGY (12AP) The AP Biology course is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory course usually taken by biology students during their first year. This course differs significantly from the usual first high school course in biology with respect to the kind of textbook used, the range and depth of topics covered, the kind of laboratory work done and the time and effort required of the students. The course aims to provide the students with a conceptual framework, factual information, and analytical skills necessary to deal critically with the rapidly changing science of biology. Students are strongly encouraged to take the AP exam in the spring. RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITES: Honors Physical Science, Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry (1 Credit)
