NSHS JAZZ ENSEMBLE

Summer 2008 Jazz Tune List/Final Exam

The following tunes represent the bulk of our repertoire for next year. There will certainly be other charts given out, but these charts will be our focus going into the new school year.

Your task is to listen to the entire CD until you can identify each tune (or any piece of it) in class. Then, over the summer you are to practice your part assignment carefully on each chart so you can play it in September when we return. I’ll be testing the class in the first week of September to insure you have done your homework!

For your final exam, you will identify each piece (any portion of it) and will answer some questions about the repertoire based on your listening and study of your parts.

All Tunes can be found on N. Smithfield HS/Music Department Website:

All tunes are identical to our arrangements except where notes (#9 is the GRP Big Band-different version but listen for style). Tracks #5, 10, 11, and 12 are in SmartMusic and can be slowed down and/or recorded and checked for accuracy.
