Referral

Anyone suspecting a child may present with a disability may submit a Special Education referral to the child's building principal.  All referrals will be answered by the Evaluation Team to consider the need for formal assessments and to determine eligibility for special education services.

Any student experiencing Academic and/or Social/Emotional/Behavioral difficulties may be referred to the Response To Intervention (RTI) Team.   RTI supports are offered in the areas of:

  • Writing
  • Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Communication
  • Sensory
  • Social/Emotional/Behavioral

Students suspected of having either a Specific Learning Disability and/or Other Health Impairment may go through the Response to Intervention (RTI) process before an eligibility is determined as part of the district's efforts to address any over-identification in these two special education disability categories.

Questions regarding the referral process may be directed to the building principal or the Pupil Personnel Services Department (769.5492 X2212) or by completing a Special Education Referral
